On September 14 and 15, Southport is celebrating 380 years and is having a big celebration over the course of two days this month! There are some tried and true local events every year that are always a ton of fun. Many homes and buildings are protected by the Historic District, giving way to the historic allure of this tightly-knit town. Trinity Church is also very well-known, as well as Switzers Pharmacy. The traditional, timeless buildings with adorable windowboxes and calm, seaside ambiance make you feel as if you are in the South of France!ĭid you know Southport even has its own school? Right up the road from the harbor and yacht club is The Southport School, which “provides transformative educational experiences for students from kindergarden to 8th grade with language-based learning disabilities.”Ī few iconic roads are Pequot Road and Harbor Road. Right in the village center, it’s a great place to stop and have lunch or watch the boats go by. Speaking of water, Southport has a great little harbor spot, bordered by the Pequot Yacht Club and Ye Yacht Yard. Everything it seems is in walking distance! Southport Park is another special spot to take a quick hike and enjoy the scenery, and is just a couple of minutes walk from the Grey Goose. Sasco Hill Beach is another favorite spot of ours, one where we held our annual Client Appreciation Party at for a couple of years. If you’re looking to relax, this town even has its own beach… Southport Beach! It is set in so you’re able to see the beautiful waterfront homes dotting the coast and feel a sense of security. A few other shops on the Post Road include Coco and Company, a boutique store filled with accessories, clothing, and home decor, Blow Dry Southport, a salon with services such as blowouts and event style hair and makeup, and Garelick and Herbs, a gourmet market and caterer with organic, vegan and gluten-free options. On the west end of Southport, closely bordering Westport, more shops can be found, including Organika, the best place to go for organic and vegan food as well as amazing juices. Driftwood Farmhouse is another spot we have yet to visit but according to their social media pages they have a ton of cute gifts and home decor! A new spot that recently opened up next to “the Shoe” is SoNo Baking Company – we haven’t tried any baked goods from here yet but it always smells good when we’re walking by! Another new spot is Equinox, truly a spectacular and downright gorgeous gym with some great classes. There is Spic and Span, (which has the best bacon, egg, and cheese sandwiches), Driftwood Sandwich Shop, and Horseshoe Cafe (which puts on many local musicians… a great place for live music!). Right across the street is the Gray Goose Cafe, their striped awnings an iconic sight in this town.Ī couple of more casual dining establishments can be found in the “5 Corners,” the main intersection in town intersecting Pequot Avenue, Old Post Road, and Rose Hill Road. The Artisan, located in the Delamar, is another equally as romantic restaurant, unique by its farm-to-table approach, private dining spots, and a spacious outdoor dining area.
